D.C. in Photos

I only took 15 photos on the DSLR this past weekend. It’s far lighter than my film cameras, but it’s still pretty heavy to tote around! I also hate looking like a tourist and constantly pausing to take photos in the street, so I find that more often than not, I take photos of random inanimate objects and have zero photos of any trips or adventures. Does anyone else have this problem?

Of the 15, these three were my favorites. On Saturday morning, we wandered around Eastern Market before heading to the Capitol. Cherry blossoms were starting to bloom, which was just lovely!

I’m exhausted from this whirlwind weekend still, so I’ll keep this post short. Tomorrow I’ll have a little guide of places I went to and a couple of stories.

What did you do this weekend? Have you been to D.C. before?

Those pictures were great! I definitely know what you mean by taking pictures of those most random things, I have a habit of doing that as well. I haven’t been to DC in quite some time actually. I’d love to go back as an adult – I didn’t appreciate it as a kid that’s for sure! Hope you have a great week, girl!

Thanks so much, Jac! I think you would enjoy it, especially shopping in Georgetown and hanging out in Dupont Circle. :) I hope you have a great week too!

Hi Jess – I found your site off the contact roll from the Alt Class. I like the look of things around here – great concept. I figured what better place to leave a note than in one of your DC posts (as a now seven year resident of the city myself).

Great pictures, and I hope we treated you well on your stay. One note: the photo above is of a Saucer Magnolia – not a Cherry Blossom. Every bit as beautiful though. The Cherry Blossom flowers are much smaller and come in bunches. Looks like you’ll have to come back next year for more pictures :-).

Thanks for stopping by, Jimmy! I’m looking forward to checking everyone’s blogs out later tonight. I’m glad you like the blog so far.

I also really appreciate you mentioning that those are magnolias! You can tell my black thumb and I know hardly a thing about plants. ;)
